Linda M. Box, LLB
Partner/Notary Public/Chancellor of the Diocese of Southall & Nottingham.
Linda Box is our senior Partner and has been with Dixon, Coles & Gill since leaving Hull University and passing her Law Society finals. She has the distinction of being the Chancellor of the Church of England Diocese of Southall & Nottingham and was appointed to the post on 1st March 2005 after serving the Diocese of Wakefield, initially as Deputy Diocesan Registrar then as Diocesan Registrar for 26 years. She continues to be a legal adviser to the various Wakefield Diocesan Boards and is Clerk to the College of Canons at Wakefield Cathedral.
Linda works extensively in the field of ecclesiastical and charity law and represents a number of charities, both local and national. She is a Notary Public and member of The Notaries Society and the past President of the Wakefield Incorporated Law Society. Apart from ecclesiastical and charity law, Linda’s expertise is in the field of all aspects of property work, Wills, trusts and the administration of estates.
Linda’s husband, Richard is the Chairman and Managing Director of the family business Eric F. Box Funeral Directors Limited of Dewsbury and Ossett.
Julia H. Wilding, LLB
Partner/Notary Public/Joint Diocesan Registrar
Julia Wilding was educated locally at Wakefield Girls High School and took her Law Degree in Leicester. Like her colleagues Linda Box and Julian Gill she was Articled with Dixon, Coles & Gill and liked it so much that she decided to stay after qualifying as a Solicitor in 1997. Julia runs our Horbury office where she undertakes a full range of legal work, especially all forms of property transactions, family and matrimonial law and Wills and Probate.
Julia is also Joint Registrar of the Wakefield Diocese together with Julian Gill and is a member of Resolution (formerly The Solicitors Family Law Association). She is a Notary Public and member of The Notaries Society.
Sindy M. Allen, LLB
Solicitor
Sindy Allen is a Solicitor who qualified with Dixon Coles & Gill in April 2006 having trained with the firm following completion of her Legal Practice Course at the College of York and Law Degree in Nottingham.
Sindy is a full professional member of Solicitors for the Elderly providing specialist legal knowledge for older and vulnerable clients including long term asset protection and when clients should qualify for NHS and Local Authority funding.
Sindy is also a member of Resolution promoting a non confrontational approach to all family and matrimonial matters and encouraging solutions that consider the needs of the whole family but in particular the best interests of the children.
Accordingly, Sindy is engaged in a wide range of legal matters also including commercial and residential property and actively promotes the approach of Dixon Coles & Gill in that we are privileged to handle a client’s personal affairs and will assist in the often diverse needs of every client and the family as a whole.
Julian S. Gill, LLB
Partner/Ecclesiastical Notary/Joint Diocesan Registrar.
Julian Gill is the third generation of his family to be a Partner in Dixon, Coles & Gill following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. He had a great uncle who was a Solicitor in London, an uncle who was a Barrister in Leeds, before becoming a Circuit Judge, and a mother who was a Magistrate and you will see that the law is in his blood.
Julian was educated locally at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School before obtaining his Law Degree at Bristol University in 1974. The College of Law at Guildford was immediately followed by Articles with the firm where he has worked ever since.
Julian is the Joint Registrar of the Wakefield Diocese and an Ecclesiastical Notary; he is also Chairman of Wakefield Hospice. He works from our office at Wakefield and is principally engaged in commercial and residential property matters, Wills, trusts and the administration of estates, personal injury claims and general litigation.
Stuart J. Knox, LLB
Solicitor
Stuart carries out a broad range of legal work including Wills and Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney and conveyancing. He also handles most forms of litigation including building disputes, debt recovery, landlord and tenant disputes and personal injury cases.
Stuart grew up in Northern Ireland and was educated at The Royal Belfast Academical Institution before moving to England to study law at the University of Hull. He then completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in York before earning a training contract with Dixon, Coles & Gill in 2004. He qualified as a solicitor with the firm in 2006.
In 2011, Stuart became a full professional member of Solicitors for the Elderly, having demonstrated his expertise in providing a full range of legal services to elderly clients. Stuart’s work in this field includes advising clients about preserving assets in the event of long term residential or nursing care
Philip M. Smith, BA (Hons) and Angela Highton
Philip Smith and Angela Highton together joined Dixon Coles & Gill in March 2009. Philip is a Wakefield Solicitor with over 25 years experience in dealing with all aspects of residential property including estate development work. Angela Highton herself a Residential Conveyancer, has worked along side Philip for the past 20 years. Both Philip and Angela are recognised for their approachability and their no nonsense approach to their work. Over the years they have built up an extensive loyal following of clients who continue to recommend them to their relatives, work colleagues and friends.
